This subject builds onto the basic knowledge and skills obtained in Automotive Repair and

Maintenance Level 2.

 

This subject entails knowledge of various automotive systems and

components. Students acquire knowledge and skills to explain and perform various repair

and maintenance tasks on an automotive mobile engine and components, including

suspensions, charger and ignition systems, wheels and transmissions.

 

Automotive Repair and Maintenance transfers trade-specific skills, knowledge, values and

attitudes so that students can explain and illustrate how mechanical tasks are applied in

practice.

 

Automotive Repair and Maintenance also covers the basic automotive theory component of the

subject outcome. The application of this subject is outcomes-based and relates to the Critical

and Developmental Outcomes.

This subject builds onto knowledge and skills obtained in Automotive Repair and Maintenance L2 and L3.

This subject introduces you to specialized vehicle components and systems and their functioning in the vehicle technology, including air conditioning, automatic transmissions, reduction drives, electronic management systems, engine configuration and design as well as hybrid and electric drivelines.

In Automotive Repair and Maintenance Level 4, you will identify faults and solve problems relating to the automotive field. 

You will need to work effectively individually or in teams. You will also use need good communication and writing skills for recording and reporting faults.
